Wavy
Wavy hair is not often thought
of as being curly hair… IT IS!!
what WAVY hair type are you?
So guess what, you can have many curl textures on your head (FYI…this is normal), a curl typing system was created by Andre Walker aka Oprah’s hair go to and tweaked within the curl community to help you with identifying textures and best curl maintenance.
Have a look at the images below which show the Type 2 Curl type (aka wavy hair textures), with 3 sub-categories A, B and C.

- Waves are fine in diameter
- Barely-there tousled texture
- No volume at the root
- Very easy to straighten
- Hair is easily weighed down by heavy styling products

- Strands often thicker in diameter than a 2A
- Stretched to defined “S” waves starting from the mid-length
- Waves are flatter at crown
- Needs a bit of elbow grease in straight styling

- Waves are generally thick and coarse
- More prone to frizzing
- “S” waves start at roots and are well-defined
- May have lowercase “s” curls present
WAVY HAIR Characteristics
- Ranges from uppercase “S” to a lowercase“s” shape pattern
- From fine to thick strand diameter
- Typically grows down close to head
- Has less root volume than curlier textures
- Naturally has more shine than curlier hair but less less than straighter textures
- Though looser of the curl family, waves can still get tangled
- Prone to frizz
- Curls can be easily straightened
- With the use of heavy product, hair can be weighed down and or straightened easily
